Trackdays. What are they about?
The best way to think about these is to imagine your favourite road on a sunny day, made one-way, closed to other traffic without any trees, brick walls, oil spills or pedestrians.
Strangely the same argument, for and against trackdays, is used by both sides. Road riders say “it’s too dangerous and competative and I don’t want to smash my bike up”. Then there are the trackday riders who as standard will say “road riding is too dangerous – I don’t want to smash myself up”.
Throw in the sheer volume of traffic on our roads and the increasing number of speed cameras, plus the close attention of the police to speed, exhausts, number plates etc. – it’s no wonder that trackdays have taken off so dramatically. If you own a sportsbike where exactly can us use it’s performance?
Exactly….
So what a track day does is provide you the opportunity to experience your motorcycles in an environment free from the distractions found on our public roads where you can learn more about your skills and your bike. Often combined with “race schools” most track day events are run with the involvement of circuit instructors, usually with race experience at highest levels. Use our website to find a Track Day at a race circuit near you and learn to be a better (and safer rider). Can you afford not too?
Novice rider..?
Trust us, there is nothing like being able to enjoy the thrill of riding your motorcycle on a race circuit. It’s an environment that is a great learning experience and social event for riders at all levels. Novice riders will learn more of the core skills of braking, shifting, body position and turning. Since even experienced track day riders will tell you they learn something valuable when they can explore their own limits in a safer setting, just imagine what your first few track days can do for a novice!
About instruction…
Most (well all worth their salt) track day organizers and schools offer top-level instruction. You can learn from champion racers like Ron Haslam, Neil Hodgson and Steve Plater. With listings for over 300+ events per year at throughout the world, you are sure to find just the right event for you right here on Trackdays.com
Our forthcoming search facility will mean you can search by region, country, race circuit or organiser.
